Dayana A. Echeverry

In Memoriam (1982-2020)

Day was born in Colombia, but grew up in Queens, New York. She loved Unicorns, the Little Mermaid, and all things pink. She also loved the Mets, the Bucs, and the Lightning. Day was the first in her family to graduate college, and after college she went on to law school. When she graduated law school, she was selected by her classmates to give the valedictory speech at graduation. Her speech embodied who she was, and who she would want her friends and family to be in the wake of her loss. She said: “Who we are is a great predictor of how great we will be, and we are great. We are fighters; dare I say, scrappy. When you start to worry about the future, stop and remember this moment. Remember what we’ve been through and who we are, and remember our story. We may not know what is ahead, but we will persevere.” Day is dearly missed by her ABD family.
